PARENT GUIDE
We understand as a parent or guardian you may have some questions. We've tried to cover the most common ones in the guide below but if you have any other questions please get in touch.
As a parent or guardian having your son or daughter in university is a massively proud time. However, we understand that it will likely come with some anxiety and worry. Well firstly, this is completely normal! That is why .House goes the distance to ensure the process from their first enquiry with us, through to the end of their tenancy is as smooth and stress-free as possible.
.House is not your average Student Lettings Agent, our team understands that these years are an experience that will contribute to their development and future years, during which they deserve to feel safe and heard. That is why we have an open door policy allowing students to not only contact us via email and telephone, but to drop in during our office hours to chat with us over a coffee and cake about anything that they feel the need to discuss. Our fantastic team loves meeting the tenants! We're also always available to visit the clients at their homes, should they have any concerns they wish to discuss with us in person at their home.
Our commitment doesn't stop at the office, as we have an in-house maintenance team just one click away for our tenants. We also have a great in-house cleaning team, ensuring that communal areas are kept clean and tidy, and they can even be booked to come and do a deep clean in the apartments if our clients so wish - completely free of charge!
Of course, all of our accommodations comply with the necessary building and student housing regulations. Did we mention that we were finalists in the British Home Awards for Best Community Living?
Whilst University is definitely a fun-filled journey, it is undoubtedly going to be stressful at times. That is why we accommodate both of these scenarios. From getting the students together for cocktails to encourage engagement with their neighbours, through to wellness weeks encouraging them to take some time to focus on their wellbeing, we've got it covered! Our social media pages display this, so you can also get involved in a remote pilates or HIIT class, keeping you both connected while they're away at uni!
If one of our tenants elects you as a guarantor, we will require confirmation that you accept. As such we will ask:
– For you to sign a Guarantor’s Agreement, as well as one form of ID. This can be one out of the following groups:
– A valid photo driving licence, passport or national ID card.
– A utility bill dated within the last 3 months, mortgage statement dated within the last 12 months or a council tax bill dated within the last 12 months.
As guarantor, you will be responsible for correcting any breach of tenancy. This includes arrears and non-payment of rent if the tenant fails to fulfill their tenancy responsibilities.
With our clients permission, we are able to discuss any concerns you may have, ensuring their right to privacy isn't broken and providing they are happy for this to happen!
